Jelly Bean firmware certified for Xperia J, Xperia TX; Xperia E appears on PTCRB

New firmware has been certified on the PTCRB website for a number of devices. First of all, the Sony Xperia TX (LT29i) has had firmware version 9.1.A.0.492 certified. This firmware will bring Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean to the device. This firmware is a minimal update to the 9.1.A.0.489 / 9.1.A.0.490 versions that are currently on the Xperia T and Xperia V respectively. Sony already confirmedthat the Xperia TX JB update will arrive in March so the timing of this certification makes sense.

The Sony Xperia J has had firmware version 11.2.A.0.21 certified. We can’t tell for certain that this is Jelly Bean, but it appears to use a significantly higher version number versus the current firmware on the handset (11.0.A.7.10).
The appearance of the Sony Xperia E (C1505) on the PTCRB website with firmware version 11.3.A.0.47also lends some credence to the fact that the Xperia J firmware is indeed JB. The Sony Xperia E will arrive with Android 4.1.2 when it launches in the next few weeks. Therefore we know for sure that the 11.3.A.X.XX firmware is JB, there’s a good chance that 11.2.A.X.XX is too. Sony said that the Xperia J will receive the JB update from the end of March.
Lastly, the Sony Xperia tipo (ST21i) has had new Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich certified with version number 11.0.A.4.27. The Sony Xperia tipo dual (ST21i2) has seen firmware version 11.0.A.6.8certified.

  2. i just love android, just bought the Sony Xperia Z what a stunning smartphone!

  3. My Xperia {James Bond version} received the update a couple days ago through PC Companion. Lots of bells and whistles HOWEVER it also has buggered up the msg system (text mms etc etc). It of course allowed for no user input regarding option of keeping my best features. . . such as the style and color scheme of my most used pages. . . "Phone - Contacts - Favourites - Groups". I am hoping that GOOGLE or whoever will fix this. The MESSAGING function of an Android should be deemed VERY very important I would hope.
Wish I knew how to get back my original phone setup. If having jelly bean means my messagin is gone then I don't want it.
