We have a few more details on the upcoming Sony Xperia SP (C530X) ‘HuaShan’ from a trusted source that we thought we’d share. Before we go into what’s new, here’s what we know so far. The Xperia SP will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics. We also know it will sport a 720p display.
New details confirm our previous suspicions on screen size, which will be 4.6-inches. The phone will be constructed using an aluminium frame for all four sides, but the back will be plastic. It will feature an 8MP Exmor RS camera sensor and 8GB of internal storage (a microSD memory card slot will also be included). One of the more exciting things we are hearing is that the transparent bar may be customisable to certain notifications, unlike the Xperia NXT series of 2012.
Despite sporting a smaller screen size than the Xperia ZL (5-inches), the Xperia SP will be heavier at 155 grams (ZL: 151g) and be broadly a similar size with dimensions of 130.6 x 67.1 x 9.98mm (ZL: 131.7 x 69.8 x 9.8mm). The phone is expected to be announced at MWC next week.
