Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo will be holding its Summer showcase of new products on 15 May. If you head over to the site you’ll find a timer running down to the event. What this means is that within the next week we will most likely hear of new Sony Xperia products destined for the Japanese market. Interestingly, AU by KDDI is expected to hold a similar event a few days later on 20 May.
Previous rumours have pointed to the possibility of the Xperia A (SO-04E) launching on DoCoMo and the Xperia UL (SOL22) on AU. Also, we have traditionally seen new handsets being announced in Japan at this time. Last year saw the Xperia GX and Xperia SX being announced by DoCoMo. However, the formal Sony Mobile Japan announcement took place almost a week earlier, so we may hear news of new Sony Xperia handsets very soon.
