Sony Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer to step down

Sony Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Steve Walker, is to step down following seventeen years of service with the company in its various forms. His role will be taken up by Jacob Sten, who currently heads up Sony Mobile’s product marketing department.

Walker has overseen a number of key recent events including the rebrand from Sony Ericsson to Sony Mobile, the ‘Made of Imagination’ marketing as well as the Xperia Z launch in CES in early January.
Dennis van Schie, CVP, sales and marketing at Sony Mobile, said that “these structural changes will help support our ‘One Sony’ model of working and will provide the framework for our business to progress to the next level.”
Walker’s statement on his departure is as follows: “The launch of Xperia Z, along with a global marketing campaign of which I am extremely proud, marks the start of the next chapter in the company’s story. Having reached this important milestone, it feels like the natural time for me to move on to new challenges.”
